Andrew - First Day of VBS

Wow what a day!!! our first full day of ministering to the little kids!! I have to admit though I totally failed in teaching them the gestures for the song... The kids were so cute!!! They had a lot of fun learning for sure! We introduced the Beginning of our creation and they understood that very well. We asked them questions like "How long did it take God to create the world?" and they answered very thoroughly!! It was amazing!! Really thanks to John for telling the story in Japanese for the kids to understand it.

After the Story telling and Shepherding we had a crafts time where we all made tye-dye T-shirts!! That in itself was fun because we all had to help each individual child with the rubber band tying. They were so excited about it too! It was awesome.

Of course we will be giving the Shirts back in about 2 days because of the process in which to make the shirts useable... none the less it is awesome!!

We had lunch after and some kids went home early because they got tired and started whining... :( poor kids.. hopefully we will see them tomorrow in higher spirits!! I also feel bad that there was a middle school girl in middle school (the rest of the kids were in elementary), her name is Yume, and she seemed a little detached from the group. Al and Ev tried to incorporate her into being a helper but she only knows japanese. :( hope she didn't have a negative experience.

We then played some games outside in the park under 90 degree weather and high humidity... awesome... With the direction of our games master, BJ, we got most of the kids involved in dragon tag, and then the boys wanted to play kick ball, but the girls didn't want to at all. Sooo we ended up playing freeze tag with Myself and Tim being the "oni", or monsters chasing the kids around.

We finished the day in a pretty big bang! Tim and I were the center of all the torture.. thankfully some of the kids were playing ping-pong (thank you John) because without it I can see myself and Tim drowning in the punishment that was children.

After the kids went home Chieko, who is amazing by the way ( she translated for us and ministered to the mothers while we were ministering to the kids), made dinner for us even after a hard days work and it was AMAZING!!! I ate to my hearts content... probably a little more than that... and when i thought i was done... she brings out my Kryptonite... MOCHI!!!!!! Even though i was full, I think i had half the plate to myself. Im starting to feel the Mochi settling in one by one. I pray that the kids will burn the Mochi off so i dont have to feel too guilty.
